The BYD e6 is the first electric MPV that was launched in India by the automaker. Initially, it was available for commercial purposes only, but later on it was made available to private car buyers as well. Now, almost three years after its launch, BYD is planning to give its electric MPV a facelift. The automaker has already unveiled the facelift at the GIIAS (Indonesia Auto Expo) and now BYD India has teased the new headlights, confirming its arrival in India. Let’s see what it can offer in the Indian market.

Based on features already revealed in the global market, we can expect a similar set of features to be offered in India. Starting with the touchscreen system, it could feature a 12.8-inch display, while the instrument cluster to remain analogue with an MID display. Additional features might include a wireless phone charger, a panoramic glass roof, and electronically adjustable driver and co-driver seats. BYD is also likely to enhance the safety features of the MPV with six airbags, a 360-degree camera setup, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

While the overall silhouette to remain the same, the facelift will get sleeker and sharper exterior styling. The LED light setup enhances its dynamic look, complemented by a silver slat in the grille, similar to what has been seen on the BYD Atto 3. BYD e6 facelift can also get 17-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels and redesigned LED tail lights setup.

In the Indian market, this MPV is only available in a 5-seater layout, in contrast to the 6- and 7-seater options available on the BYD M6 (the global name for the e6). Globally, it comes with two battery pack options: a smaller 55.4 kWh battery and a larger 71.8 kWh battery. It also features vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality.

We expect BYD to reveal the facelift model in India in September, just ahead of the festive season, to attract more customers to their showrooms.
