Well, it seems that things are heading in the right direction for Japanese carmaker Nissan. Although not too long ago, it was the same company that was struggling to hold its base in the country that has now done the inevitable, as the India front of this Japanese giant has achieved its highest annual sales since FY2017-18.

Strange, right? Now, to understand this in a much easier manner, let’s have a look at some numbers. The brand sold just over 99,000 units in FY2024- 25. This number includes over 28,000+ units sold in the country, alongside an impressive 71,000+ units that were exported to different countries. This staggering number was led by the brand’s sole product in the B-SUV segment, The Nissan Magnite. Many have credited this achievement to the brand’s ‘One Car, One World’ initiative, which encourages the export of its hero product, the Nissan Magnite, to over 65 countries.

  • These new sales numbers have now contributed to the brand’s YOY growth by 35% in the country.
  • Nissan Motors India also sold almost 1.5 units of the Magnite SUV in August 2024.
  • Nissan India’s export capabilities also grew from 42,978 units in 2023 to 71,000 units in 2025, a 65% rise.
  • Nissan Motors India has also announced a restructuring of its India operations as it plans to offload its stake in the Chennai JV plant with its alliance partners.
  • Looking at the SUV craze Nissan also plans to launch two new SUVs in India based on the Renault Triber and the Duster.

The export of the new Nissan Magnite expanded to over 65 international geographies including LHD markets this year. Nissan & its dealer partners will continue to provide Sales & Service to customers of existing and future new models.

  • The Magnite comes with 2 basic 3-cylinder engine options a 1.0-litre NA petrol and a turbo petrol engine, churning 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque and 98 bhp and 160 Nm of torque individually.
  • Both the engines come with a 5-speed manual, AMT, and a CVT gearbox options to choose from.
  • The feature and safety list on the magnite is pretty basic and includes a set of LED headlamps, a touchscreen infotainment system, a multifunctional steering wheel, 16-inch alloy wheels, and 6 airbags as standard, among others.
  • The Magnite targets the B-SUV segment in the country, locking horns with the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Taisor, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the Tata Punch.
