After electrifying its best-selling compact SUV, the Creta, Hyundai is now gearing up to introduce its bigger sibling, the Alcazar, in an electric avatar. Recently, a spy shot of a camouflaged three-row SUV surfaced online, sparking speculation that it could be the Alcazar EV.

While both the Alcazar EV and Kia Carens EV are expected to debut this year, some believe the test mule might actually be the much-anticipated Kia Carens EV. The key factor fuelling this theory is the design of the wheels, which resemble those seen on Kia models. However, the test vehicle had a Tamil Nadu registration plate, aligning with Hyundai’s manufacturing base, whereas Kia models, including the Carens, are typically registered in Andhra Pradesh.

Furthermore the placement of the charging port matches with that of the recently unveiled Creta EV. Additionally, the vehicle was spotted at a charging station in Tamil Nadu, further hinting that it is likely a Hyundai model.

In terms of design, the Alcazar EV is expected to retain most of the ICE version’s styling, much like the Creta EV. It could feature a closed front grille with an integrated charging port, connected LED DRLs, split-type LED headlamps, active aero flaps, ADAS, a 360-degree camera, and LED taillights. Inside, it might offer premium features such as electrically adjustable seats with ventilation function, a panoramic sunroof, and a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The Alcazar EV is expected to share its powertrain with the Creta EV, likely offering 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery pack options. The larger battery could deliver a range of up to 473 km on a single charge.
